Black Hills Works continues to have a waiting list of 40-50 adults and that number keeps growing. One of the main contributing factors to the growing list is the lack of residential options for people with disabilities. We receive emergency requests for places to live monthly. Many people with severe disabilities live with aging parents who are no longer capable of providing daily care.
To help ease the shortage, the Black Hills Works Foundation purchased or built a total of five accessible, affordable homes between 2009 and 2012. We are continuing this Capital Campaign specifically to build homes for those we serve with Traumatic Brain Injuries, as the need for services within this group continues to grow. Your financial support of housing would make a huge difference in the lives of adults with disabilities.
